My client is looking for an exceptional Founding Writer to help create an entirely new, AI-native and social-native science-fiction universe.
The ambition is to create a distinctive science-fiction universe with its own visual identity, compelling characters and rich mythology, blending imaginative world-building with contemporary culture and the possibilities of digital storytelling.
This is an opportunity to help build something from the ground up, creating an original universe designed to live across social media, entertainment and emerging platforms.
We're looking for an imaginative storyteller who can move effortlessly between long-term mythology and short-form digital storytelling. Someone who understands how to build rich fictional worlds, develop compelling characters and create stories that capture attention, spark conversation and inspire participation.
You could come from advertising, film, entertainment, gaming, social or a combination of creative disciplines. What matters most is your imagination, writing ability, cultural awareness and appetite to experiment with new technology.
The Role & Responsibilities
- Help define the creative vision, tone of voice and narrative direction for an original science-fiction universe.
- Create unforgettable characters, extraordinary worlds, detailed mythologies and interconnected storylines.
- Develop repeatable storytelling frameworks and narrative engines capable of generating a vast universe of stories and content.
- Conceptualise and write social-first storytelling formats with the potential to become cultural phenomena.
- Write exceptional short-form science-fiction stories, particularly 30–90-second scripts that are cinematic, emotionally engaging, imaginative and designed to capture attention.
- Combine traditional storytelling craft with an understanding of social culture, internet behaviour, memes, creators, trends and platform algorithms.
- Explore how stories can evolve through audience participation, community engagement and emerging digital formats.
- Be hands-on in the creative process, writing, making, testing and experimenting rather than simply directing others.
- Push the creative possibilities of AI, developing expertise in emerging models, prompting techniques, workflows and tools to transform how stories are imagined and produced.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to bring ambitious creative ideas to life.
About You
- An exceptional writer and storyteller with a strong imagination and the ability to create original worlds, characters and narratives.
- Experience in one or more of the following: advertising, creative agencies, film, entertainment, gaming, social content or digital storytelling.
- A strong understanding of internet culture and what makes content resonate, travel and capture people's attention.
- Equally comfortable developing a complex fictional universe and writing a compelling 30-second social video.
- A natural conceptual thinker who can bring unexpected ideas, originality and a distinctive creative perspective.
- Passionate about science fiction, speculative worlds, emerging technology and the possibilities of storytelling.
- Actively experimenting with AI tools and interested in how they can transform creative development and production.
- Hands-on, entrepreneurial and comfortable working in an evolving environment where there is no established playbook.
- Ambitious, curious and excited by the opportunity to help build something entirely new.
Why This Role?
This is a genuine founding opportunity. You won't be inheriting an existing creative framework or simply delivering against an established brief. You'll help shape the vision, build the mythology and establish the storytelling language for an entirely new science-fiction universe.
It's a chance to combine imagination, storytelling, technology and culture in a way that pushes the boundaries of what creative content can be.
Location: Candidates must be based in the UK or EU. Applications from candidates based outside these regions will not be considered. Working remotely with regular meetings in Europe.
Salary: £80,000 - £115,000 plus equity
