Consulting Director: Brand, Growth and Innovation Strategy
We’re working with a leading London-based marketing transformation and growth consultancy to find a Consulting Director with strong experience across brand, growth and innovation strategy.
This is not a brand communications or advertising strategy role. The focus is on helping clients solve broader business, customer and commercial challenges: where to grow, how to position brands, how to unlock new opportunities and how to turn strategic ambition into clear, actionable plans.
The role would suit someone from a design, innovation, growth or transformation consultancy background, rather than a traditional advertising agency. Relevant experience could include brand transformation, portfolio strategy, proposition development, innovation territories, market opportunity assessment, go-to-market strategy and commercial growth planning.
You’ll lead client engagements day to day, manage senior stakeholders and work across complex strategic projects from problem framing and insight through to recommendations, delivery and implementation planning. You’ll also contribute to new business, shape proposals and help develop the wider consulting offer.
The role also has a people leadership element, with responsibility for managing and developing 1–2 Analysts or Consultants. Team culture is important, so the right person will need to be collaborative, generous with their expertise and comfortable creating a positive, high-performing project environment.
AI is also a key consideration. You don’t need to be a technical AI specialist, but you should be confident using AI tools in a practical way and able to see how they can support strategy, insight, prototyping, innovation and client problem-solving.
What they’re looking for
The ideal candidate will have around 8–10 years’ experience in consulting, strategy or a relevant client-side strategy role, with a strong track record of leading high-quality strategic work for senior clients.
You’ll need to be comfortable moving between creative strategic thinking and rigorous commercial analysis. That could mean developing a brand positioning or innovation platform one day, then building a commercial case, portfolio recommendation or growth model the next.
Strong storytelling is essential. You’ll need to turn complex information into clear, persuasive narratives that land with senior audiences and help clients make decisions.
Sector experience across areas such as FMCG, food and drink, logistics, telco, tech or B2B would be useful, but the bigger priority is relevant consulting-style experience across brand, growth and innovation.
